JAN 7, 2025, Palestinian Media Watch | Before the US even considers the PA's request for massive funding, it should be asking why the PA Security Forces are filled with terrorists and why a terrorist fighting Israel this week was defined by the PASF as "fulfilling national duty."
Last month, the Palestinian Authority requested $680 million for its Security Forces from the US, according to a report this week in Middle East Eye. However, these same Palestinian Authority Security Forces (PASF) have been a driving force behind terrorism, as documented in this updated report by Palestinian Media Watch.
Just this week, the PASF announced that one of its officers, Hassan Raba'iah, was killed in a confrontation with Israel, south of Jenin. Shortly thereafter, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a designated terrorist organization, announced that Hassan Raba'iah was one of its commanders. Hassan Raba'iah is now added to the long list of Terrorists in Uniform—operatives who were in both the PASF and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades and who are documented in PMW's report.
Significantly, the PA and Fatah have not tried to hide that the Western-funded PASF are also terrorists. In fact, they brag that Fatah and the PASF make up most of the security prisoners and most of the so-called "Martyrs."
Upon announcing Raba'iah's death, the spokesman of the PASF wrote:
"With all signs of respect and pride, the Security Forces mourn their heroic Martyr son, First Lieutenant Hassan Ali Hassan Raba'ah, who was a member of the Palestinian Preventive Security Service, who fell as a Martyr... from the occupation (i.e., Israeli) army's gunfire while fulfilling his national duty."

The statement by the designated terror organization Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades sounded very similar to the PA's:
"With all badges of honor and resilience, full of pride and glory, the [Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades'] Rapid Response Units… mourn the Martyr, commander Hassan Ali Hassan Raba'iah… who ascended to Heaven in armed conflict with a special Israeli force."
[Tulkarem Brigade - Rapid Response, Telegram channel, January 5, 2025]
Both the PASF and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades defined Raba'iah as a commander/officer, called him a "Martyr," cited his being killed in confrontation with Israel, mourned his death, and expressed that they were proud of him.
Before the US even considers this PA request for massive funding, advanced training, and additional weapons, it should be asking why the PASF are filled with terrorists and why a terrorist fighting Israel is defined as "fulfilling national duty." Furthermore, the US must demand that the PASF purge all terrorists from its ranks.
By agreement, the US needs Israel to accede before it can send the PA more weapons and train PA forces. Since many of the terrorists in the PASF are known to Israel but many certainly are not, Israel must insist that the US reject this request until the PA hands over all terrorists on Israel's lists to stand trial in Israel. Israel should also require the PA to hand over the names of all others with terror ties that the PA has dismissed from the PASF.
